A Henry Clay graduate and now a freshman at the University of Kentucky, Kinchen decisioned Tetiana Ryzhenkova of Ukraine, thus advancing to Friday’s semifinal medal round. The Youth welterweight (152 pounds) won her opening bout Monday by the same score, over Ana-Roxana Patrascu of Romania.

Kinchen’s semifinal opponent will be Gauhar Yermekbay of Kazakhstan.

Kinchen is among six of 10 Team USA fighters to reach the medal round.

Also advancing were reigning Olympic gold medalist Claressa Shields of Flint, Mich., at 165 pounds; Junior pinweight Caitlin Orosco of Anaheim, Calif.; Junior featherweight JaJaira Gonzalez of Glendora, Calif.; Junior lightweight Iesha Kenney of Alexandria, Va.; and Youth light flyweight Marisol Lopez of Stratford, Calif.

Junior light bantamweight Ashley Perez and Junior bantamweight Jessica Galvez, both from Sparks, Nev, dropped quarterfinal bouts.
